From the President
I have had an extraordinarily rewarding career spanning 30 years with the American Biographical Institute. In addition to reviewing countless biographies of outstanding men and women, I have also maintained wonderful friendships and professional contacts with people from around the world. These inspirational people are serious about improving the world through a dedication to spreading cultural awareness and promoting progress. Whether through the humanities, science, education, or countless other professions, these individuals’ accomplishments do not simply exist: they make a real difference. It is an honor for me to be acquainted with them.
Since 1967, the ABI’s goal has been to recognize men and women for their achievements and to honor them through proper representation. It is a goal I proudly pursue and value. The Institute’s vast library and archives of books, papers, art, and biographies are among the most complete and impressive of their kind. The participation we receive from our research associations and boards—such as the Advisory Directorate International, the International Women’s Review Board, and the ABI Research Association—is testament to the positive effects of our endeavors.
As President, I am proud to annually select a rare number of recipients for individual honorary tributes. These honors, which are extremely limited in number, are bestowed upon those whose singular contributions continue to elevate them to prominence within society. Recipients of these accolades frequently write to us with their gratitude and pride in having received these tokens of high praise.
Perhaps one of the most enjoyable and rewarding experiences of my presidency is the annual World Forum that is held in different cities around the globe. Here, members from associations such as the World Academy of Letters and the United Cultural Convention assemble for intellectual exchange and inspiration. Since 2001, the Convention has held a closed meeting at the Forum for these inspirational and driven individuals. I look forward to our closed meeting each year; it is an important opportunity for me to meet personally with attendees.
It is necessary for our society to maintain mutual regard for one another as humans—human beings daring to change society for the better. It is my hope that the ABI will continue to play a role in upholding this value.
J. M. Evans
